Reel Cowboy Charter Member Robert Stephens was born July 4th, 1932 in a wood framed house, built by his Father. The house was located in an area named Coat, 3 miles from Magee, Mississippi. On his ninth birthday, the fanily moved to a town named Edwards, located near Vicksburg. At the age of 11 the family decided to move back to Magee, so they could be closer to his Uncles, Grandpa & Grandma. His parents opened a store in town to support the Family.
At seventeen, Robert joined the Navy and served our country during the Korean Conflict for four years. After his service, Robert attended college. He later married his sweetheart Barbara who was from Monterey, N.L. Mexico. Soon after they had a daughter, Elena (also a Reel Cowboy)!
At age 27 Robert decided that a Navy career was his calling, and reenlisted and eventually served a toatl of twenty seven years! Bob retired with full honors as a Chief Petty Officer.
Upon returning to civilian life Bob chose a myriad of jobs to keep busy, including train conducting, a railroad switchman, special agent for the railroad and bareback bronc rider and steer wrestler in the rodeo!
Eventually Bob came to Hollywood to become one of our most talented stuntmen and actor who worked with Hollywood's greats. One of Bob's many specialties is stunt car driving and he has performed in countless films and TV programs taking the art of car crashing and "automobile flying" to new heights. Bob probably has the record of destroying more cars than anyone on film just from his participation in The Dukes of Hazard alone!!! When they talk of true "Good Ole' Boys" it's not hard to picture Robert Stephens playing that role; he was born to it!
In addition to all of the above Bob is also a published author. He wrote the book, "A Man Called Daws" of his own great Uncle, a tale passed down through his Family of a true pioneer, carving out a life for himself and his heirs! Bob's book is available on the Reel Cowboys Products page.
The Reel Cowboys are justly proud to have Chief Petty Officer Robert Stephens as our Official Pledge of Allegiance leader and Friend; just a good ole' boy!
